It’s Holiday Party Time Again!

Our annual Holiday Party is just around the corner.  On Sunday, December 7, we will gather at 3 pm at the home of Mary and Darwyn Womack for an afternoon of conversation, a silent auction, great refreshments, and a short business meeting.  One important item is member approval of the allocation of funds to be sent to AAUW national; we will also announce the Named Grant Scholarship awards.  Invited guests include AAUW national fellowship winners from Georgia and local scholarship winners.

The Executive Board provides the refreshments and Board members should arrive between 2:30 and 2:45 to help set up the food and silent auction items.  Please consider donation of items for the silent auction; monies raised from sales will be sent to the AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund. Plan to do some early shopping among the various items donated for the silent auction. Members are encouraged to bring guests.

Please put December 7 from 3 pm to 5 pm on your calendars.  Look forward to seeing you there!

Welcome to our Fall Kickoff meeting!

Calling all Branch members!  September 14 is our fall kickoff meeting and will be held at Agnes Scott College in the Rebekah Scott Hall, Woltz Meeting Room from 2 pm to 4pm. It is also a membership recruitment meeting, so invite your friends to visit the beautiful campus and enjoy light refreshments and good conversation. You will also get to meet our new communications intern, Ayesha Kirk, who is already hard at work.  Students who attended the NCCWSL conference this spring will present a report. A short business meeting will follow.
Parking is available in the deck or in front of the building. We’ll see you there!

Alert for Members

It has been over five years since our Branch made significant changes in our structure and activities.  So it is now time to evaluate those changes and get your input into how we are doing and what we need to do.

Each member will be receiving a mailed survey form with a stamped return envelope in the next two weeks.  PLEASE take a few minutes to complete the form and return it.  Your responses are very important for the Board to review and consider as we plan for the future of the Branch.

Thanks for your participation!

The Power of Membership

AAUW opens the doors of opportunity to women and girls through our programs, research, and advocacy.  Fulfilling the mission of AAUW depends on members, and our national organization has prepared a short video highlighting membership.  You can view it by clicking on this link.

If you are not a member, please consider joining our AAUW Atlanta Branch.  If you are already a member, recommend AAUW to your friends and colleagues.  We need the talents and abilities of all women to be engaged in improving the status of women and girls!  Use the “Join” tab contact our membership chair.

Celebrating an End and a Beginning

Our final meeting of the 2013-14 Branch year will be celebrated in style with a delicious breakfast brunch at Ansley Golf Club (click for directions) on Saturday, May 17. from 9 am to noon.  Cost of the brunch is $25.  After brunch we will be electing and installing new officers for the 2014-15 Branch year, and hearing other reports from Board members.  It is always a special treat to bring our busy year to an end, celebrating our accomplishments and looking ahead to next year’s activities.

Also remember to bring your checkbooks as our 2014-15 dues are now due.  Membership renewal is $77, which includes Branch and national dues.
