AAUW’s New Strategic Plan

The AAUW Board of Directors has recently approved a new strategic plan, available for download.  It will be made available in the Members Only section of our website soon, but you can read it at https://www.aauw.org/resource/strategic-plan/ – plan right now.

There are two notable changes in this plan:

  1. The Vision Statement now reads:  “AAUW empowers all women and girls to reach their highest potential.”
  2. The Value Promise has added “and girls” before “have a fair chance.”

Please take time to review this new Strategic Plan, which will guide consideration of our own Branch Strategic Plan.

Name Grant Honorees for 2013

Whenever a branch donates to the AAUW Funds, the national organization provides the branch with an  opportunity to honor those members who have given exemplary service to the branch. The names of those being honored are submitted to AAUW, and a pin and certificate are awarded to the honoree and the names of the branch members receiving this honor are maintained at the state and national level.  Our Branch Funds committee is a part of the Branch Philanthropy Committee.

The AAUW Atlanta Branch recognizes the Name Grant honorees for the current year at our December holiday party.   Criteria for nominations include such things as performing tasks beyond normal expectations and distinguishing themselves within the Branch or in the community.  This year four persons were awarded a Name Grant Honoree certificate and pin in appreciation of their significant contributions to AAUW for 2012-13.

Three of these awards were posthumous, in recognition of their contributions to the Branch over many years:  Tami Anderson, Frances Smith, and Toni Larson.  The fourth award recognized the contributions of our current Branch intern, Amira Saleh, who became a Branch member this spring.   We congratulate these women for their service to our Branch.
